Hard Wired To Read Expressions

Ever since the caveman era we've been hard wired to read people by watching their facial expressions and listening to their voices. Are they angry? Happy? Sad? Frightened? We would instantly know whether we were in danger or safe. As people lived farther and farther away we had to turn to their writings to get an impression of them. But reading their writings never came close to what we could pick up by seeing and listening to them. That all changed with the advent of video. Now even for people who live far away, our primal instincts can kick in. By watching them on video, we can hear their voices and watch their facial expressions -- what we simply couldn't do in reading their writing. Meeting in person will always be our best bet for reading people -- but at least video is the next best thing.
